Wilfred Mallia joined Barclays Bank (Malta) in 1967. In his last position as Staff Training Manager, he was responsible for introducing in the early ‘80s the first structured training in investments and portfolio management for the bank. Those were the years of radical changes in world stock markets (inspired by the Thatcher government in the UK) and Wilfred decided to leave Barclays in 1985 to set up Charts Investment Management Service which he has led since then. Over the years, Wilfred has acted as non-executive director and member of the Investment Committee for a number of financial institutions including APS Bank, Lombard Bank, Mid-Med Life Assurance and Occam Investment Management (Malta). He also served a two year stint as chairman of the College of Stockbrokers.
David Mallia joined Barclays Bank (Malta) in 1975 and after qualifying as an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers moved to Toronto (Canada) in 1982. During a phase of regional growth in international banking, David formed part of the Treasury and Banking divisions of Chase Manhattan Bank and Midland Bank of Canada. He returned to Malta in 1989 to join Charts Investment Management Service and expand the wealth management area of the business during a period of financial deregulation and increased competition. David is currently responsible for client investment portfolio management encompassing foreign and local securities. He is also a director of Blue Planet Investment Management which manages investments in financial companies.
Evan Mohnani joined Charts Investment Management Service Limited in 2000 as a Senior Executive. He is principally involved in corporate finance and has worked on a number of equity and bond transactions, most of which have been listed on the Malta Stock Exchange. Evan is also responsible for the accounting and regulatory function of the company and heads the Malta Stock Exchange trading desk. Prior to joining Charts, Evan held the position of senior auditor at KPMG. He was involved in the auditing of local and foreign companies operating in various sectors including manufacturing, telecommunication, hospitality, international business and financial services. Evan is a Certified Public Accountant and holds an MA (Financial Services) from the University of Malta.
Leo Azzopardi started his career in 1990 when he joined Mid-Med Bank, which was taken over by HSBC (Malta) in 1999. He occupied various roles within the retail network prior to joining HSBC Fund Management in 2000. In 2002 he started working as a Financial Planning Advisor within the branch network providing recommendations to customers on managed funds, ETFs, equities, bonds and assurance related products to both retail and corporate clients. Leo holds a Diploma from the Institute for Management of Information Systems (IMIS) and a Certificate for Financial Advisers (CEFA).
